TLDR: getting started was a bit challenging, but worth it.
Just started my ride yesterday. I took Amtrak to Buffalo Exchange Street and everything went smoothly on the train. Two super-helpful conductors really made my start feel right. As soon as I left the station, though, things got wonky. Tons of car traffic for a baseball game (the stadium is very close to the Amtrak station), limited signage, overlapping/connecting bike paths, several trail closures and associated detours (thankfully good signage on the longest one) all made getting started quite challenging. I really enjoyed the dusk views as I pedaled into the night before reaching my first stop just past North Tonawnda. I wish I could have got a bike slot on the earlier train. Starting this adventure at 7pm wasn't the best choice.
