It’s best to embrace the fact that you’ll going to get wet and your legs will get gritty from the splashback. All part of the adventure!
If it’s raining hard then the trail surface could get soupy and could slow you down. If it’s just a drizzle, there will be much difference to when it’s dry. The trail surface can absorb some water. I suppose puddles could form but I just push right through them. Others like to avoid them and go around them and that’s fine too. YMMV.
