Sadly the Lock 30 State Campsite in Macedon NY does not allow camping anymore. I found out when a security guard woke me up with a flashlight at 1AM last week. He was very polite about it and did not throw me out. It's too bad because it was a strategic location.

I wrote to the Canal Corp. about this and as of yet, they have not responded. Somewhere on their site they say to call the lock tender to see if space is available
