Is it possible to ride a bike from the Train Station in Syracuse to the trail? We plan to take the train from Amsterdam to Syracuse then bike back.

Its easy as ice cream.

From the train station (called the Walsh Regional Transporation Center):

* head SW on Harborside Dr
* turn rt on Hiawatha Blvd
* turn rt on Empire state trail... that's the towpath

Most importantly:
On the bikeeriecanal.com discussion page"
* click on the dot on the map that corresponds to Syracuse
* move the map around so that you can see the lake and look for the blue pin marker 51. thats the train station.

Use the directions above to see the map route I've suggested.

Consider getting a phone mount for you bike and use this map to guide you.

My guess is that you'll have to be cautious on the Empire State Trail while you are in the city of Syracuse.
