"With the COVID-19 pandemic and delayed opening of the NYS Canal System this summer, a recently started “staycation” program is being offered by the state Canal Corporation to promote six hubs of canal and trail activity and to help local canal-side businesses.

The program began July 10 and runs through Labor Day. Among its features are four free outdoor “staycation” kayak and/or bike excursions being offered in Schenectady, Chittenango, Seneca Falls and Rochester.
